Community Health Worker
Aleigh joined the Spectrum Health Care team as a Community Health Worker in October of 2018. Before Aleigh became one of our first CHW’s, she spent over a year and a half volunteering with us as a Health Services Intern under our Prevention Education program. During her time at Spectrum, Aleigh has acquired other exciting roles, such as one of our Outreach & Education Coordinators for The Right Time Program and the Internship Coordinator for the agency.
As a Community Health Worker, Aleigh does a little bit of everything. She helps patients and community members navigate and access health insurance, find local community services, and learn how to adopt positive health behaviors. Aleigh is also a Certified Application Counselor (CAC) and spends a lot of time assisting those who need to enroll in health insurance through the Affordable Care Act. In addition to her CAC Certification, she is also certified as a Mental Health First Aider through the National Council for Behavioral Health.
Aleigh graduated with honors from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Health Science. With a strong interest in healthcare and how it operates, and an innate passion to help others, a career as a Community Health Worker fit very naturally.
In her spare time, Aleigh enjoys traveling to new places (especially to the mountains!), practicing yoga, camping, hiking, finding a new series to binge on Netflix, trying new local restaurants, listening to podcasts, and playing with her sweet cat, Biscuit.
